Members of the 6th Ohio can be very proud of all that we have accomplished in the past ten years on this pristine gem of a battlefield to preserve it. There are many portions of the field that are now accessible and marked with interpretive plaques thanks to our efforts. During past cleanups we have removed 900 yards of modern fencing & fence posts, removed demolition debris from modern buildings, and cleaned Doctor's Creek. See below for pictures of some of our past work.
Saturday April 4, 2009- Barn demolition
This non-period barn demolition was part of the Civil War Preservation Trust 'Park Day'. We removed metal roofing from a collapsed barn and then disassembled the wooden structure. Much of the framing will be used in constructing other period structures on the park property. Those working on the project from the Sixth Ohio were Mike Davis, Mel Glover, Jim May, Tom Schenk and Steve Spohn. State employees that worked on the project were Phil Kane, Roy Pike, William Preston, Jr. and Randall Crow. Pictures of the Barn demolition work are below.
Museum Work
Sixth Ohio members Ken Cornett and Terry Winders worked in the park's museum helping with some of the new displays that are being installed. Member Evan Cornett worked outside the museum cleaning up the lawn and landscaping. No pictures are available.

Doctors Creek
Several years ago in the summer of of 2002 (?) the 6th OVI cleaned up Doctors Creek near the Bottom House. A lot of trash and debris was removed. The following year the Park was able to add a pathway along the creek and interpretive signs. At the time of the battle was creek was very low. The pictures below were taken on April 4, 2009 during the CWPT Park Day cleanup. The creek is higher than usual in the pictures due to rain in the area a few days earlier.
